And the season begins
May, the begining of summer and the end of the spring. A chill has settled back onto the air of Bloomington this week. Adding to the feeling that it isn’t quiet time for pitching the wedgie, putting on 6 million layers of wool and marching around playing french military music, but somehow it is.
I have been detached from fife and drum since the fall, after Massec I turned that part off, along with many other parts of my social life and dove so headfirst into work for the last few months that I forgot about life outside of work.
But!
Now its time for Fife and drum. I honestly cant wait to get to St. Charles today. The people in fife and drum give me new energy that my life has been missing its different from the energy i get from robotics. Robotics for me is more about seeing how the world can be changed with science and ideas and how the future might look for the whole world. Fife and drum makes me think about my future, how I can have a hobby that is so ancient yet be around people who have been doing it for as long as I’ve been alive and still be rocking as late and as hard as I am. And they get up in the morning and put on a show that would put professionals to shame.
Giddy anticipation now. Only a few hours till we throw everything in the back of the Fit, pack up and head out on the road. Interstate across Illinois, hit St. Louis and cut on over to St. Charles. Pitch the tent and then the party begins.
Oh and just your wondering what kind of supplies I have packed for this weekend. Several packs of cigarettes, 2 bottles of wine, a 12 pack of Leinenkugle, 2 six packs of long neck bottles, 2 40’s and a four pack of sparx. Its gonna be a good weekend, and hopefully the start of another great season.
